2017 RESOLUTIONS: How to Be New Year Ready
As you can see, I’m already onto the typical new year resolution of working out before the party even started (and so should you). And yet falling short of those goals is typical too. So how can you make sure that 2017 is the year you become the best version of yourself? Simply follow these steps (with a gym metaphor):
1. Identify your long-term goals
Before even setting your resolutions, you should know your long-term aspirations, so you work towards the right direction. Otherwise you’ll end up with a set of skinny calves and a ginormous upper body.
2. Be realistic
If you’ve never touched the gym, don’t aim for that 200 pound bench- it simply ain’t happening. Be reasonable with what you can accomplish, but don’t forget to push yourself still.
3. Set the goal and a method to keep track of it
You can’t just do one pushup today and 20 the next. So make sure you have a way to check your progress, whether that’s a quarterly review or a naggy friend.
4. Stretch, or rather pivot if necessary
Sometimes goals do change -maybe you want abs more than you want big biceps that can crush a watermelon (is that a thing?). Staying flexible can help you achieve your long-term goals faster, rather than sticking to a set of resolutions that don’t work for you.
With that said, I hope everyone has an amazing new start and I’ll see you in 2017!
